We are pleased to offer the luxury of video observation to our parents! All studios are monitored with a camera system, which feeds to a tv screen in one of the waiting rooms. Parents must remain in the waiting area, and are not allowed inside the classroom.
Please note that we will not have classes available for observation 100% of the time, but we will on most weeks.
-
We have two lobbies. One is right next to the main receptionist desk near studio 1. The other is through the glass doors out side of studio 2. We have a camera monitor system in both lobbies to watch classes. Students are welcome to do homework, eat a snack, and relax before classes in the lobbies.

Our tiny tot and mini classes are based on age. Our age cut off is December 1.
Tiny Tot - 3-4 year olds
Minis - 5-6 year olds
Level 1 classes are for ages 7-8 primarily, but older dancers who are complete beginners may start in level 1 depending on the style of dance.
Level 2 classes are for ages 9+. These are beginner/intermediate level classes. Dancers should have some experience in the genre before enrolling for a level 2 class.
Level 3 classes are for ages 13+. Younger dancers will be allowed into level 3 by invitation only. These classes are intermediate/advanced level.
The studio owner will have final say on level placements. It is important to remember that levels in dance are made to be repeated. It is important that dancers master technique before advancing to a higher level. This is for safety, and the quality of their dance education. We ask that parents respect the professional opinion of our staff.
-
When you registered, you selected a "recital class" or a "non-recital class". All recital classes will participate in our end of the year production. The date has not yet been set, but usually it is the end of May or beginning of June on a Saturday afternoon. All recital classes will receive a costume which is included in tuition. Dancers will also have the opportunity to perform at community events during the season, and we will also participate in the Christmas parade.
-
You will receive costumes the month of the recital. When we get the costumes delivered to the studio, we will have students try them on during class time to be sure they fit. Parents will be welcome to help students with trying on costumes.
-
We believe prompt attendance is very important to a dancer's training. Consistency is key for proper technique to be learned, committed to memory, and become a part of the body. On weeks where a dancer is running late, we ask that they enter the studio discreetly, put their things away, and join the class. The teacher will let them know if they need to do anything extra to warm up.
Instructors will take note of absences and tardies, and you can keep track of this in the parent portal.
-
For recital classes, students are required to attend class the week of a performance in order to participate. Students are required to attend class the month of recital.
Instructors will keep track of attendance and tardies, and you will be able to keep track of this in the parent portal. If the instructor notices a student is struggling or falling behind due to poor attendance, the instructor will make note of this in the parent portal.
We believe that proper attendance is neccesary for a quality dance education. Dance technique needs to become muscle memory, and that only happens through consistency in weekly training.
When it comes to performing with a group, dance is a team sport. If dancers are missing from rehearsal, it is difficult for the rest of the class to properly practice their choreography. We ask that all of our dance students make the choice to be dedicated teammates, both to better themselves, and to help their classmates.

π Legacy Performing Arts
Studio Behavior & Etiquette Handbook
Our Philosophy
At Legacy Performing Arts, we go beyond simply teaching dance steps β we are committed to shaping the whole person. Our classes focus not only on technique and performance, but also on building socio-emotional skills that help students grow as confident, compassionate, and resilient individuals. We aim to inspire performers, leaders, and community members who will leave a positive legacy wherever life takes them.
1. Core Values & Studio Expectations
Our values guide everything we do β in the classroom, on the stage, and in the community:
Respect β Show kindness and courtesy to teachers, classmates, parents, and staff.
Inclusivity β Be welcoming and kind to everyone. Greet others, use polite language, and include classmates so everyone feels part of the group.
Punctuality β Value everyoneβs time by arriving early, ready to learn and participate.
Active Listening β Focus fully on instruction, staying present and engaged.
Self-Discipline β Practice responsibility for actions, words, and energy to create a positive classroom atmosphere.
Professionalism β Approach classes, rehearsals, and performances with maturity, preparation, and commitment.
Positive Attitude β Embrace challenges, encourage others, and celebrate successes β big and small.
Leadership & Teamwork β Contribute to a culture of support, cooperation, and encouragement.
Legacy Mindset β Strive to leave a lasting positive impact on peers, the studio, and the broader community.
2. Classroom Etiquette for Dancers
Arrival & Preparation
Arrive 5β10 minutes early to stretch, change, and prepare for class.
Enter quietly if class has begun; wait for an appropriate break to join.
Come with hair secured, proper attire, and required shoes.
During Class
Keep phones silenced and stored away β no texting or social media during class.
Pay attention to the teacher, avoid side conversations, and respect othersβ personal space.
If unsure about choreography, stand toward the back and observe until confident.
Use transitions efficiently β move quickly to new spots, keep class momentum positive.
Water Breaks
Get water quietly and return straight to your spot on the dance floor.
Use breaks to reset, not to socialize or distract others.
Corrections & Feedback
Accept corrections with maturity and gratitude (βthank youβ), then apply them immediately.
Avoid excuses, eye rolling, or negative reactions.
Leaving Class
Ask permission before leaving for any reason.
If leaving early, inform the teacher before class begins and exit discreetly.
Personal Space & Safety
Keep belongings neatly in a dance bag and off the studio floor.
No gum, food, or non-water drinks in the studio.
Never touch mirrors or equipment unnecessarily β this is a safety issue.
Keep toddlers and siblings under control in waiting areas; if they become disruptive, take them outside to play or calm down.
Attire & Grooming
Dress Code: Wear fitted, appropriate attire for each class style.
Hair: Pulled back neatly off the face and neck.
Shoes: Correct footwear for each style; no street shoes on dance floors.
Jewelry: Remove dangling or noisy pieces for safety.
Hygiene: Clean dancewear, good grooming, minimal fragrances or lotions (they make floors slippery).
3. Behavior Standards

4. Parent & Family Guidelines
Drop-Off & Pick-Up: Be punctual for all class times.
Observation: Follow studio policies β some classes are closed to help dancers stay focused.
Lobby Etiquette: Waiting areas are for quiet study, snacks, or stretching. Avoid hovering outside studio doors. Clean up spills promptly. Keep siblings supervised and under control; take them outside if they become loud or disruptive.
Communication: Direct questions to the Administrative Director. Schedule conferences rather than stopping teachers between classes.
Partnership: Encourage practice at home, model respectful behavior, and support all dancers at recitals β not just your own child.
Boundaries: Leave teaching to the instructors; enjoy watching your dancer grow without intervening during class.
Safety & Respect: Any aggressive, threatening, or yelling behavior toward staff or students will result in being asked to leave the premises immediately to ensure the safety of everyone present.
5. Performance & Rehearsal Expectations
Our end-of-year show is a highlight of the season and an opportunity for dancers to shine.
Rehearsal schedules are released in advance β attendance is mandatory.
Missing rehearsals can result in removal from parts of a routine to preserve spacing and choreography.
Dancers must stay for the entire scheduled rehearsal time.
6. Social Media & Online Conduct
Posts must reflect respect for classmates, staff, and families.
Do not share private studio information, choreography, or costume designs online.
Avoid posting complaints, gossip, or negative comments β bring concerns directly to the owner.
Racist, threatening, harassing, or inappropriate posts may result in disciplinary action.
7. Discipline & Intervention Process
We believe in teaching dancers accountability and giving multiple chances to correct behavior.
Warning & Redirection β Teacher provides verbal reminder and chance to adjust behavior.
Temporary Removal β Student may sit out for part of class or wait in the hallway.
Parent Contact β If disruption continues, parent is called for early pick-up.
Parent/Teacher Conference β To discuss behavior and set goals for improvement.
Director Meeting β If behavior persists, a formal meeting is scheduled with the Director.
Suspension/Dismissal β As a last resort, the dancer may be suspended or removed from the program.
Teachers are never to meet one-on-one with a student β a second instructor or the Director will always be present.
8. Why Etiquette Matters
Following studio etiquette develops life skills that go beyond dance:
Discipline & Self-Control β Learning to manage time, behavior, and effort.
Respect & Empathy β Building understanding and compassion for others.
Responsibility & Accountability β Owning choices and growth.
Leadership & Teamwork β Contributing positively to the group.
Professionalism β Preparing students for auditions, performances, and future careers.
Together, we create a safe, inspiring community where every dancer can succeed.
